They say if a writer falls in love with you,
You can never die.
So kiss me.
Show me the ways you want to be loved;
Pause at the hands of each syllable
To whisper the phonetics of desire,
Lacing tongues around question marks
Until they straighten into exclamation points,
Form mouths around words
Pronouncing them in ways one can only imagine.
They say if a writer falls in love with you,
You can never die.
So I shall pen the verses across your lips,
So that you may become immortal.
♥
My heart’s against your chest
Your lips pressed to my neck
I’m falling for your eyes
But they don’t know me yet
So I hold you close
To help you give it up
That was Excellent.
Thank you redstar ^_^
Yes, I agree, excellent…great idea…really manage to be clever and loving at the same time…that is hard to do. And the love song, well, you wrap me in it, so well, I accept. Sometimes I can…
I love Ed Sheeran and this song. Stumbled upon it by accident a couple of days ago. It automatically played on someone’s site when clicking on their Tumblr and I was about to pause it… but the first few beats got me.
this is superb !! one can look at it in different ways. though one can look at it as to being with an opposite attract romantically, it can also mean that one can be the same way with oneself. also, that title lends it to it’s reach of thought.
Thank you, I enjoy seeing others’ interpretations and thoughts on what is written. You have a wide range of perspective on poetry and I appreciate that.
Gets the imagination running at high speed.
Then the words have done their job ^_^
Quite lovely. 🙂
Thanks GE 😀
“So I hold you close, to help you give it up”…love that line. Your eyes look radiant here 🙂
My favorite line from the song as well. Thank you Nikki ♥
Question marks straighten to exclamation points… By tongue… Brilliant
It is to leave the other person without question of the intentions, and hopefully bring this poem a bit of imagery, thank you.
Beautiful poem; like the writer
You are so kind Hieu, thank you.
You’re Welcome. Only saying what I see
Completely beautiful. I love the tongues as exclamation points and question marks, I love the final lines. You are gorgeous in all ways.
To have such compliments given to me by someone I admire and hold in such high regards is humbling. Thank you, and so are you.
Oh, darling, don’t hold me in regard. Just keep writing so we may know each other. That is poetry.
That it is.
I believe poetry tells more about ourselves than an autobiography ever could. We both have our own unique way of writing and engaging words. Here’s to many more posts ahead.
Cheers!
I have read this 3 times and each time it was totally different, that is impressive! The idea is awesome and so true, countless poems were inspired by someone no long here yet every time they are read that person is brought to life. That would be some way of being brought back to life 🙂
Perhaps because I did what you did, and started out with one idea and ended up here, haha. There’s another saying that goes, you are not truly dead until you are forgotten (or something along the lines of that). I was going to go down that route but you know I had to put a romantic twist to it. Plus I was also inspired by the song here. 😀
This is a gorgeous poem!! 🙂 I’ve never heard of the writer falling in love with you and you’ll never die! I just looked it up – fascinating thought! We better be careful who we fall in live with from now on, don’t want to be immortalising the wrong sort of person! 😉
You look really lovely on that picture Brit!! Is that one of your phone pictures?
We’ve done it again you know! You’ve got question marks in you poem – so have I!!! How do we do this??? We should set up a betting game for the our followers, to place their bets on what days and poems we will have a match with words or phrases! 😆
And I love that song – really lovely. Sounds like something to listen to on a lazy Sunday afternoon!
I stumbled upon that quote a few days ago, and wasn’t quite sure what to do with it until I heard this song and decided to tie both in together. Yes! We don’t want to be immortalising the wrong type of person >_<
Oh no, not a phone picture this time, otherwise it would have come out more pixelated. I was out and about and had to crop the other person from the photo because I didn't want it to seem as if this post was about them. Whoops!
Oh Suzy we share too much of the same brain wavelength despite the distance, haha. I LOVE IT. Uuu, we should, that would be interesting. Though I'm sure your brother would have the upper hand since he knows you and may figure out the timing of our thoughts.
Isn't it? I spent all day yesterday at home listening to it. And yes, it was a lazy Sunday afternoon ^_^ There you go again. Are you sure you're not psychic? ♥
Oh, honey. This is just fabulous. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Thank you for coming back to WP to read it. Did I tell you how much I missed you? I think I did like a bazillion times already, but one last time can’t hurt. *hugs*
Gee and to think I used to hate grammar … another unique, original poem, but I am not really surprised. I was drawn to the opening line more than anything else, thinking of how we immortalize others in our words, especially if we happen to fall in love.
I never hated grammar. Hated math, and still do ^_^.
Yes, even if I try, sometimes there are thoughts and references to someone in my posts, even if I hadn’t intentionally wanted it to be there. They remain alive in my words, so the quote is fitting.

I’m going to steal this. 🙂
And what do you intend to do with it? 🙂
Not sure yet.
But whatever it is, be sure that it will be amazing. 😛
SL, why did WordPress ask me to approve your comment?
LOL I guess I’ll just have to take your word on this one ^_^
I changed my gravatar and sign in email yesterday so that may be why. Alternatively it could just be that WordPress is just REALLY suspicious of any comments I make on other peoples blogs. 🙂
Or just that one in particular… 😉
Yes. WordPress clearly does not approve of literary theft! 🙂
But it approved your stalker comment, haha
Oh WordPress, so silly.
WordPress – Online Chaperone Fail.
My stalker and me! *sings off-key*
rofl.
(that means rolling on floor laughing, right?) 😛
I can hear that in my head!
LOL, yes S.L. That is exactly what that means ^_^
simply amazing
~
this might
be my favourite poem
you’ve ever written
~
wow
That means a lot coming from you Geo, thank you.
Really, so very VERY good!

Turning doubts in to certainties – Incredible!
Beautiful, passionate and subtly erotic (without going to any obvious / crude interpretations). It is, for me at least, to take the “romantics” view point and see that it is the passionately willing intentions here which show such great love.
Some people you hold and kiss but are unsure of their intentions, but I prefer to make myself clear, and I want it to be intense and passionate. When the time comes of course which could be ages from now, haha.
I like my writing to have slight undertones of eroticism. It is a part of me, and I want that to be shown in my words as well – the way I play with them, and the way the words will play upon the mind of readers. Surprised you are the only one to have pointed that out though 🙂 Well, not that surprising since you are very observative.
Breathtakingly beautiful!
Thank you Wendell ♥
Loved it! Very poetic and inspiring…
Thank you! 🙂
I love how you play with words and how you know exactly how to express the things that are in my heart. Beautiful! Great song choice too! ❤
Thank you hun ♥ I love reading your words too.
This one here is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. I really think this may be one of your best ( that I have read, anyway ). I like Ed Sheeran, too ! ” The A Team ” is also a very poetic song, in it’s own right. Have a good weekend, my friend !
The A Team is spectacular, though Lego House is what made me fall in love with his music in the first place. I hope you have a beautiful weekend as well!
Beautiful in all ways~
Thank you. 😀
