Play me a song
Of life’s journeys on the keys
On a classic grand piano
Symphony and melodies
Play me a tune
Of the crescendo ups and downs
Trailing fingers on the ivory
Such a bittersweet sound
Keys of white are of the happiness
While the black are of the pain
But without one another
The song wouldn’t be the same
♥
The music video below is reminiscent of the 1969 film,” They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?” which is based on a novel of the same name by Horace McCoy. This is my favorite song from Jack’s Mannequin.
Have you ever been alone in a crowded room
when I’m here with you?I said the world could be burning
’til there’s nothing but dark blue
LOVE this!!
Thanks Lisa, hope your week has been going better ♥
Everything gets worse before it gets better, unfortunately. I don’t know what I feel any more.
It does much to our dismay. But I hope that when it gets better, it overshadows the rainstorm you’ve had to endure. I have faith that it will.
ahhh music, piano, life’s journeys … I think my piano has more black keys than white … runs and counts … hmmmm …. Enjoyed this poem!
Hmm… I’d get Isabelle to take a look at it. She might have stolen some white keys 😉 hahaha. Even if your piano has more black keys than white, you still exude an upbeat, energetic personality M. 🙂
Now that would not surprise me. I have to move the couch once a week to find everything I seem to have somehow or other lost. And thanks, I am trying to maintain that persona for the sake of others 🙂
Kitties can be so naughty sometimes. My parent’s cat likes to hide things all over the house like it’s an Easter egg hunt 24/7, or knock stuff over, it is too cute! As for maintaining the persona, it is commendable you do it for the sake of others, but perhaps you shouldn’t have to. I know it gets tiring. ^_^
has to be said “if music be the food of love play on”
“Give me excess of it, that, surfeiting,
The appetite may sicken, and so die.”
He had a way with words 😀
Yes he did 😀 Which is why they will live on forever.
Whoa. Side boob. 🙂
Hahaha, it’s the camera angle. Love your comment. Just noticed it now >_<… the evening gown isn't as risqué as it appears to be here. No double sided tape was necessary 😀
It was the first thing I noticed so that tells you where my mind was last night
Uuu… *trails off to your site*
yes, it is hard to miss your beauty…fun poem on the ebony ivory theme (forget who did that before) – but a great idea. And the song works beautifully too. Have we ever been alone in a crowded room…they are working a well known theme too…and yes, we have. Thanks Britt, your entire site is, well, beautiful.
If you find out and remember, link me so I can see their take on it 🙂 Work was ridiculous yesterday, but if it weren’t for that, I wouldn’t have seen how amazing my friends could be to pull me through, so that’s sort of how this came about. That, and I used to play the piano ^_^. Thank you John.
I will google it later – I think it was called ebony and ivory. It was pretty awful from memory.
Oh… >_<
I see you got your mind cleared and produced a lovely poem. Beautiful photo.
Still a bit hazy, but I shall find adequate peace soon after today. Yay for the weekend!!
This song is neat. I almost always feel alone in a crowded room.
I know that feeling as well GE
I love this one! I like the way you’ve compared the sounds of the black or white keys to the feelings of life. I’ve always felt that about the piano keys, different notes indicating a feeling in them! And yes, if we had no pain, we wouldn’t know happiness when we finally saw it. We have no choice but to suffer both! 😀
When I used to play, I could tell when I hit the wrong keys, and when playing chords, it was a combination of both black/white keys that came together to make one beautiful sound. 🙂 Such is life.
Did you know that before your flower post, I was going to write about growth and flowers? You know we really need to stop doing that. hahahaha ♥
Yes – we really should stop reading each others minds!! 😆
You should do the poem with the flower theme! Don’t let it bother you that I have one. There’s room for plenty more poetic thoughts on flowers! 😀
It just wasn’t good 😦 So I had to ditch it. Someday I will 😀
Now I sort of want to write you a song.
Hello beautiful songbird. I love listening to you sing and play the piano. Thank you for sharing the videos on WP.
Beautiful as always.
Wayne
Hello Wayne, thank you.
yin and yang in the piano as allegory for life. Very great!! 🙂
Ah yes, yin and yang indeed. Hadn’t thought about it in that way, but that is a wonderful idea.
Great line that makes sense of beauty and pain:
But without one another
The song wouldn’t be the same
Sometimes people complain about the bad things that happen, but you can’t have sunshine w/o a little rain 🙂 At least that’s how I see it.
You’re right. What if nothing “bad” never happened, how would we even know what good is. But even still I’d like to see what all good would be like and then go from there, ha.
Haha yes, I remember the conversation we had for your chart post of ups and downs. I’m not sure if one can fully appreciate the good things if it weren’t for the bad to off-set it. Same thing goes for people. Gotta meet the rotten ones to fully appreciate a good catch when you’ve got.
Look at you remembering past things again ;). I like your memory. And when you busted me on sending you the same song twice, I was like dang that’s usually my job remembering stuff like that, ha. Once again you just said what I said to someone the other day. If we met “the one” first, we may not realize what we had. But if we navigate through all the poo first we’ll certainly appreciate and grab on to them once we find them….if we are smart 🙂
I have my moments. ^_^ As long as it’s not on a busy workday, I usually remember most things. Like sending emails… >_> LOL.
Uh oh she just said she was too busy, ha. And also not responding to emails. Sound the alarms!!
LOL!! Yea walked right into that one…
You’ve created a professional trapper! ^_^
Now that the women of WP have given you more insight into our crazy minds, I think you’re good to go ^_^
Ha, yup. Much appreciated 🙂
Beautiful! Love the last part about the black and white keys…oh so true 🙂 May I please re-blog this on my site?
Hello ^_^ Thank you, yes of course you may ♥
