232 ~ Sunshine

You are my greatest love
You are my biggest fear
It’s hard to draw the line
Whenever you are near

I know that you’re my weakness
And have enough to cause me pain
But I can’t help but fall for you
Whenever you say my name

For you are the first person
That always comes to mind
When I wake up in the morning
And at night when I unwind

The nights that I sleep next to you
Have become my greatest vice
For when the morning comes
The sun always rises  twice

And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life

I just don’t want to miss you tonight

  1. O Britt, love your softness, your sweet love songs and poems….you bring kind ideas to all of us….:)

  2. This is beautiful, but very sad too. It’s hard to get some people out of our heads! 😦 Sometimes it’s because I don’t want them to leave, but other times I’ve ended up thinking “Are you really still here!!?” Can make you feel quite crazy!

That song is beautiful! I’ve listened to that a few times now – wonderful!! 🙂

    • Some people you can’t stop loving either, no matter how much your brain tells you “no”, your heart just beats differently when the memories pop up. It’s maddening at times.

It’s a cover of an already beautiful song by the Goo Goo Dolls, but Kellin from Sleeping With Sirens has an angelic voice so I do prefer this version 😀

  3. This is a beautiful one. And I understand all about vices…only too well! I love how you put your emotions all out there. xoxo

  4. The sun always rises twice, your words are so very effortlessly timeless. The lines of this poem dance with such an enchanting rhythm that it leaves one mesmerized! The touch of the spirit of love you share is so refreshing! I read it a few times over…so very beautiful! Britt!

    • For he is my sunshine, although I know I shouldn’t feel this way about him anymore. My love is everlasting even when it’s wrong. But when it comes to him, my writing is at its’ best.
